The terms, conditions, and details of our warranty vary from product to product. Specific warranty details can be found below.

Tamerx Diesel Products provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.

Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".

If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). Be sure to have your order number and/or other relevant order information ready so we can easily locate your order and resolve your issue as quickly as possible. From that point, we will review with you any troubleshooting steps that may need to be taken and other areas or systems that can be checked to rule out external problems contributing to your part's issue. If a replacement is determined to be necessary, we will then arrange for your replacement part to ship out ASAP and issue any necessary return shipping labels and/or documents.

As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler is an essential component in your Caterpillar CT13 engine, responsible for reducing harmful emissions and maintaining optimal engine temperature. The Caterpillar CT13 EGR Cooler 2011-2014: OEM 462-5762 is specifically designed to ensure your engine operates efficiently and lasts longer. Understanding the benefits of this EGR cooler can help you make the most of your engine's performance and longevity.

Key Benefits of the Caterpillar CT13 EGR Cooler OEM 462-5762

  • Reduced Emissions

    •  The primary function of the EGR cooler is to lower the temperature of exhaust gases before they re-enter the engine. This process helps to reduce the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx), harmful pollutants that contribute to air pollution. The OEM 462-5762 ensures your engine meets stringent emissions standards, making it more environmentally friendly.

  • Improved Engine Efficiency

    •  By cooling the exhaust gases, the EGR cooler helps optimize combustion efficiency. This leads to better fuel efficiency, allowing your engine to run more economically. The OEM 462-5762 is designed to maintain this efficiency, ensuring your engine performs at its best.

  • Prevents Overheating

    •  The EGR cooler plays a crucial role in maintaining the engine’s temperature by dissipating heat from the exhaust gases. The OEM 462-5762 is engineered to handle the high temperatures of the Caterpillar CT13 engine, reducing the risk of overheating and protecting critical engine components.

  • Durability and Reliability

    •  The Caterpillar CT13 EGR Cooler OEM 462-5762 is built to withstand the rigors of heavy-duty use. Its robust construction ensures long-lasting performance, minimizing the need for frequent replacements and reducing downtime.

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler is a crucial component in modern diesel engines, designed to reduce emissions by cooling exhaust gases before they are recirculated into the engine. However, like any part, the EGR cooler can fail over time, leading to engine performance issues and potential damage. Understanding what causes an EGR cooler to fail can help you take preventive measures to maintain your vehicle’s efficiency and longevity. In this blog, we’ll explore the common factors that contribute to EGR cooler failure.

  • Heat Stress

    •  The EGR cooler is constantly exposed to high temperatures as it cools exhaust gases. Over time, this exposure can cause the cooler’s materials to weaken, crack, or warp, leading to leaks and eventual failure. Continuous heat cycling accelerates this degradation, especially if the engine frequently operates at high temperatures.

  • Coolant Contamination

    • The coolant running through the EGR cooler can become contaminated with debris, dirt, or rust if not properly maintained. Contaminated coolant can corrode the cooler’s internal surfaces, leading to blockages, leaks, and ultimately, failure of the cooler.

  • Soot and Carbon Buildup

    •  Diesel engines are particularly prone to soot and carbon buildup, which can accumulate inside the EGR cooler. This buildup restricts the flow of exhaust gases, causing the cooler to overheat and fail due to excessive pressure and thermal stress.

  • Poor Maintenance

    • Neglecting regular maintenance, such as coolant flushes and EGR system cleanings, can significantly shorten the lifespan of the EGR cooler. Without proper care, the cooler is more likely to develop clogs, leaks, and other issues that lead to failure.

  • Manufacturing Defects

    • In some cases, EGR coolers may fail prematurely due to manufacturing defects. These defects might not be apparent immediately but can cause the cooler to fail unexpectedly, even under normal operating conditions.

  • Excessive Engine Load

    •  Operating the engine under high loads, such as towing heavy loads or driving in extreme conditions, can put additional stress on the EGR cooler. This increased demand can cause the cooler to fail more quickly, especially if it is already weakened by other factors.

EGR cooler failure can lead to serious engine problems, making it crucial to understand the common causes behind it. By staying on top of regular maintenance, using high-quality coolant, and being mindful of operating conditions, you can extend the life of your EGR cooler and prevent costly repairs. Addressing issues early can help ensure your engine runs efficiently and reliably for years to come, keeping your vehicle in top condition.

Failure may result in coolant loss, white smoke, engine overheating, rough engine operation, and potential engine damage.

Clogging may cause reduced exhaust flow, power loss, increased backpressure, high exhaust temperatures, and fault codes.

Coolant moves through internal passages, absorbing heat from exhaust gases before they re-enter the combustion cycle.

Operating with a failing cooler can result in severe overheating, gasket failure, coolant contamination, and costly repairs.
