Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) sensor is a crucial component in modern diesel engines, designed to monitor and reduce harmful emissions. When the NOx sensor fails, it can lead to increased emissions, reduced engine performance, and potential damage to other engine components. Recognizing the symptoms of a bad NOx sensor can help you address the issue promptly, ensuring your engine runs efficiently and complies with emission regulations.

Symptoms of a Bad NOx Sensor

A failing NOx sensor can manifest in several ways. Here are some common symptoms that indicate a problem with the NOx sensor:

  • Check Engine Light
    • One of the most common signs of a bad NOx sensor is the illumination of the check engine light on your dashboard. Diagnostic trouble codes related to the NOx sensor can confirm the issue.
  • Reduced Fuel Efficiency
    • A malfunctioning NOx sensor can cause the engine to run inefficiently, leading to increased fuel consumption and reduced fuel efficiency.
  • Increased Emissions
    • If the NOx sensor is not working correctly, it cannot accurately monitor and reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, leading to higher emission levels. This can cause your vehicle to fail emission tests.
  • Poor Engine Performance
    •  A faulty NOx sensor can affect the engine's performance, causing issues such as rough idling, hesitation, and reduced power.
  • Regeneration Issues
    • In diesel engines equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), a bad NOx sensor can disrupt the regeneration process, leading to DPF clogging and reduced engine efficiency.
  • Unusual Exhaust Smell
    • A malfunctioning NOx sensor can cause an unusual smell from the exhaust, often due to increased nitrogen oxide emissions.
  • Engine Warning Messages
    • Some vehicles may display specific warning messages related to the emission system or NOx sensor on the dashboard.

Causes of NOx Sensor Failure

Understanding the common causes of NOx sensor failure can help in preventing these issues. Here are some factors that can lead to NOx sensor problems:

  • Contamination
    •  Exposure to contaminants such as oil, coolant, and carbon deposits can damage the NOx sensor, affecting its accuracy and performance.
