As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The Paccar MX13 engine, known for its reliability and performance, relies heavily on the efficient operation of its turbocharger system. A crucial component in this system is the turbo speed sensor, specifically the OEM 2140166PE, designed for models from 2010 to 2017. This sensor plays a vital role in monitoring and optimizing turbocharger performance, ensuring your engine runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Benefits of the OEM 2140166PE Turbo Speed Sensor

  • Accurate Turbocharger Monitoring

    • The OEM 2140166PE turbo speed sensor provides precise readings of the turbocharger's rotational speed. This accuracy is essential for the engine control unit (ECU) to make real-time adjustments, optimizing engine performance and preventing potential damage due to over-speeding.

  • Enhanced Fuel Efficiency

    • By ensuring the turbocharger operates within its optimal range, the turbo speed sensor helps improve fuel combustion efficiency. This leads to better fuel economy, reducing operational costs for long-haul trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Improved Engine Performance

    • The turbo speed sensor allows the ECU to adjust the air-fuel mixture accurately, enhancing overall engine performance. This results in smoother acceleration, increased power output, and a more responsive driving experience.

  • Durability and Reliability

    • Manufactured to high OEM standards, the 2140166PE turbo speed sensor is built to withstand the harsh conditions of heavy-duty engine operation. Its robust design ensures long-term reliability, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimizing downtime.

Common Issues and Maintenance Tips

To ensure the turbo speed sensor in your Paccar MX13 engine performs optimally, regular maintenance and awareness of common issues are essential:

  • Regular Inspection

    • Periodically check the turbo speed sensor for signs of wear or damage. Look for issues such as loose connections or sensor contamination, which can affect performance.

  • Cleanliness

    • Keep the sensor and its surrounding area clean. Dirt and debris can interfere with the sensor's ability to read accurately, leading to incorrect data being sent to the ECU.

  • Prompt Replacement

    • If you notice symptoms like fluctuating engine power, poor fuel economy, or error codes related to the turbocharger, it may be time to replace the sensor. Using the OEM 2140166PE ensures compatibility and reliability.

  • Professional Servicing

    • Regular servicing by a qualified technician can help identify potential problems early and maintain the sensor's performance. Professionals can perform detailed diagnostics and ensure the sensor and turbocharger system are functioning correctly.

Investing in the OEM 2140166PE turbo speed sensor for your Paccar MX13 engine is a smart decision for maintaining high performance and efficiency. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of this critical component can significantly enhance your engine's lifespan and operational efficiency. By focusing on these aspects, you can ensure your engine runs smoothly, providing reliable performance for all your heavy-duty needs.

Ensuring that your turbo speed sensor is in top condition not only optimizes your engine’s performance but also contributes to overall fuel efficiency and compliance with emission standards, making it a valuable addition to your vehicle’s maintenance routine.

A turbo speed sensor is a critical component in modern turbocharged engines, designed to monitor the rotational speed of the turbocharger. This sensor plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and efficiency of the turbocharger, which in turn enhances the overall performance of the engine. Understanding what a turbo speed sensor is and how it works can help you appreciate its importance in maintaining your vehicle’s performance and efficiency.

What is a Turbo Speed Sensor?

A turbo speed sensor is an electronic device that measures the rotational speed of the turbocharger's compressor wheel. This data is crucial for the engine control unit (ECU) to optimize the turbocharger's performance, ensuring that it operates within safe and efficient limits. The sensor helps prevent the turbocharger from exceeding its maximum operational speed, which could lead to mechanical failure or reduced efficiency.

How Does a Turbo Speed Sensor Work?

  • Measurement of Rotational Speed

    • The turbo speed sensor is typically mounted near the compressor wheel of the turbocharger. It uses either an electromagnetic or optical sensor to measure the rotational speed. The sensor generates electrical signals proportional to the speed of the turbocharger’s rotation.

  • Signal Processing

    • The electrical signals generated by the turbo speed sensor are sent to the ECU. The ECU processes these signals to determine the turbocharger’s speed in real-time. This information is used to adjust the turbocharger’s operation to match the engine’s needs.

  • Boost Control

    • One of the primary functions of the turbo speed sensor is to assist in controlling the boost pressure. By monitoring the turbocharger's speed, the ECU can make precise adjustments to the wastegate or variable geometry turbo (VGT) to regulate the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the turbocharger. This helps maintain the desired boost pressure and prevents over-boosting, which can cause engine knock or damage.

  • Protection from Overspeeding

    • The turbo speed sensor helps protect the turbocharger from overspeeding. If the sensor detects that the turbocharger is approaching its maximum speed limit, the ECU can take corrective actions such as reducing the boost pressure or limiting the engine's fuel injection. This prevents the turbocharger from exceeding its safe operational limits, which could lead to mechanical failure.

  • Enhanced Performance and Efficiency

    • By providing real-time data on the turbocharger’s speed, the turbo speed sensor enables the ECU to optimize the air-fuel mixture and combustion process. This results in improved engine performance, better fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions.

Maintaining the health of your turbo speed sensor is essential for ensuring the optimal performance of your turbocharged engine. Regular inspections and timely replacements of the sensor can prevent issues and ensure your vehicle runs efficiently.

In conclusion, a turbo speed sensor is a vital component that monitors the rotational speed of the turbocharger, allowing the ECU to optimize turbocharger performance and protect it from damage. By accurately measuring and transmitting the turbocharger’s speed, the turbo speed sensor helps maintain boost control, prevent overspeeding, and enhance overall engine performance and efficiency. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of the turbo speed sensor are crucial for sustaining the health and performance of your turbocharged engine.
