Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The International Navistar MaxxForce 11 and 13 engines rely heavily on efficient cooling to keep them running smoothly. A crucial component in this system is the charge air cooler, specifically the OEM 2604440C92, designed for 2011-2014 models. This charge air cooler ensures that air entering the engine is at an optimal temperature, preventing overheating and other potential issues.
Key components of the MaxxForce 11, 13 Charge Air Cooler include:
- Core
- The core is made from durable aluminum, designed to handle high air pressures while maintaining efficient heat transfer.
- Tanks
- Located on either side of the core, these tanks help distribute the cooled air evenly into the engine.
- Fins
- These fins increase the surface area, allowing the cooler to dissipate heat more effectively.
- Mounting Brackets
- These sturdy brackets ensure the charge air cooler is securely attached to the engine.
- Inlet and Outlet Ports
- These ports connect the cooler to the turbocharger and engine intake, directing airflow through the system.
If your charge air cooler shows signs of wear, it’s crucial to replace it promptly. Ensuring all components are functioning properly will help maintain the efficiency of your MaxxForce engine.
A charge air cooler plays a critical role in maintaining the efficiency of your diesel engine by cooling the compressed air before it enters the engine. However, leaks or damage can compromise its effectiveness, leading to bigger issues if not addressed promptly. Understanding the causes of such leaks can help prevent costly repairs.
Common causes of charge air cooler leaks include:
- Corrosion
- Over time, exposure to moisture and environmental factors can cause the cooler to corrode, leading to cracks.
- Vibration
- Continuous engine vibrations can cause fatigue in the cooler’s metal, leading to small fractures.
- Debris Impact
- Objects like rocks or road debris can hit the cooler, damaging the fins or core.
- Pressure Spikes
- Sudden increases in pressure can overstress the cooler, leading to leaks.
Regular inspections and maintenance can help spot these issues early, ensuring your charge air cooler remains in good working condition. If you notice any decrease in efficiency, unusual noises, or visual signs of damage, it's time to check for leaks. Addressing these issues quickly can help keep your engine running smoothly and prevent further complications.
The charge air cooler cools compressed air from the turbocharger, increasing engine efficiency and reducing emissions.
Regularly cleaning the cooler, inspecting for leaks, and ensuring proper airflow through the fins can help maintain its performance.
A failing charge air cooler can lead to reduced fuel efficiency, increased emissions, and potential damage to the turbocharger and engine.
OEM parts ensure proper fit, optimal cooling performance, and compatibility with the engine’s original design specifications.
