Tamerx Diesel Products provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.
Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".
If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The OEM ASP5410-6506718 DEF head unit is a vital component for Cummins diesel engines using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. This unit supports the management of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) by delivering accurate fluid level data, regulating temperature, and ensuring proper fluid flow to the dosing module.
This DEF head is mounted to the top of the DEF tank and plays a key role in system monitoring. A failing unit may trigger fault codes, false level readings, or system derates—making reliable replacement essential for fleet and equipment uptime.
Key features of the OEM ASP5410-6506718 DEF head unit include:
- Level Sensor Integration
- Accurately reports DEF tank status to the ECM
- Built-In Heating Element
- Keeps DEF in usable condition during freezing temperatures
- Temperature Sensor
- Helps maintain correct fluid conditions for dosing
- OEM Connector Configuration
- Ensures compatibility with Cummins systems
- Direct Mount Design
- Fits standard DEF tanks used in various Cummins-powered equipment
Verify that your system matches OEM part number ASP5410-6506718 before ordering to ensure proper fit and function.
This unit is ideal for Cummins engines used in commercial trucks, industrial machines, and off-highway vehicles requiring dependable emissions control.
The DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) head unit plays a critical role in a diesel engine's emissions system. It is installed within or on top of the DEF tank and serves as the control hub for monitoring and managing DEF levels and conditions.
Core Functions of a DEF Head Unit:
- Monitors DEF Fluid Level
- Uses sensors to determine how much DEF is in the tank and communicates this to the vehicle’s ECU and dashboard.
- Measures Fluid Temperature
- Ensures the DEF is within the proper temperature range for injection into the exhaust stream.
- Controls the Tank Heater
- In cold climates, DEF can freeze. The head unit activates heating elements to thaw the fluid for proper flow.
- Detects Quality Issues
- Monitors DEF concentration to ensure it meets emissions standards (typically 32.5% urea).
- Supports Regulatory Compliance
- Helps the vehicle meet EPA emissions regulations by enabling accurate DEF dosing in the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system.
In short, the DEF head unit ensures that DEF is correctly managed so the emissions system can neutralize nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust. If this component fails, it can lead to false warnings, reduced vehicle function, or even shutdown protocols.
Yes, faults in the heater or sensors can result in diagnostic codes, DEF warnings, or even engine derate.
Symptoms may include erratic DEF level readings, DEF temperature sensor faults, or frequent DEF-related warning lights.
Common tools include a socket set, gasket scraper, torque wrench, and optionally a diagnostic scan tool to reset codes.
On average, installation takes about 30–60 minutes depending on access and whether DEF draining is required.
