The terms, conditions, and details of our warranty vary from product to product. Specific warranty details can be found below.
Tamerx Diesel Products provides a replacement warranty on all of our parts. The duration and mileage limitations of the warranty vary by product and are specified on the product's detail page/item listing.
Please note that the warranty covers replacement of the part and the cost of shipping the replacement part to you only. It does not cover any shop, labor, towing, or any similar or related costs. This is not a "money back guarantee".
If you experience a problem with your part or it is not functioning properly, the correct warranty procedure is to call us at (510) 257-1777 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET Monday through Friday). As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The OEM ASP-908-2317-297 DEF head unit is a critical component in Cummins Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. Its main role is to manage and monitor the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) stored in the tank, helping ensure the emissions system functions accurately and consistently.
Key functions of this DEF head unit include:
- DEF Level Monitoring
- Sends real-time fluid level data to the engine control module (ECM) to prevent low-fluid conditions and ensure proper dosing.
- Temperature Sensing
- Tracks DEF temperature to prevent freezing and to maintain proper injection conditions.
- Heater Element (if equipped)
- Warms the DEF in cold environments, ensuring the fluid remains in usable condition during cold starts.
- Fluid Delivery Support
- Connects with other aftertreatment components to regulate DEF flow toward the SCR dosing valve.
- System Communication
- Uses built-in sensors and OEM-specific connectors to relay accurate data to the Cummins ECM.
This unit is essential for maintaining EPA compliance and supporting dependable operation in Cummins-powered equipment. Always verify the OEM part number ASP-908-2317-297 before replacement to ensure proper fit and function.
The DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) head unit—also known as the DEF sender or reservoir sensor assembly—is a crucial part of your emissions system. It monitors fluid level, temperature, and quality within the DEF tank. When it fails, your vehicle may trigger fault codes, display warning messages, or enter reduced speed mode.
Common Causes of DEF Head Unit Failure:
- Crystallization of DEF fluid
- DEF can crystallize around the sensor or suction tube, especially in cold climates or when exposed to air. This buildup can clog the system and cause sensor errors.
- Electrical issues
- Faulty wiring, corroded connectors, or internal sensor short circuits can disrupt signal accuracy.
- Contaminated or improper DEF fluid
- Using low-quality or contaminated DEF can damage internal components and affect readings. Always use ISO 22241-compliant DEF.
- Freeze/thaw damage
- Although DEF is designed to freeze and thaw safely, repeated cycles can degrade seals or damage plastic components within the head unit.
- Sensor wear over time
- Like any electronic part, the sensors within the DEF head can fail due to age, thermal cycling, or exposure to harsh conditions.
Regular maintenance and proper DEF handling can help prevent premature head unit failure. If issues arise, scan for fault codes and inspect for buildup or damage before replacing the unit.
The ASP-908-2317-297 manages DEF suction, fluid level monitoring, temperature sensing, and integrated heating for SCR aftertreatment systems.
This unit integrates a DEF suction tube, temperature sensor, fluid level sensor, and heating element into one assembly.
No reprogramming is needed, but diagnostic tools should be used to clear codes and verify proper sensor signals.
Yes, it includes a heater to keep DEF from freezing and ensure proper system function in cold environments.
