Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.
What is a Core Charge?
A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.
30 Day Core Charge Hold
You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The exhaust back pressure sensor is an essential component in modern engines, providing critical data to the engine control unit (ECU) to optimize performance and emissions. When this sensor malfunctions, it can lead to various engine issues. Diagnosing problems with the exhaust back pressure sensor can help you maintain your vehicle's efficiency and prevent more severe problems.
The exhaust back pressure sensor plays a crucial role in monitoring the pressure within the exhaust system, helping to regulate emissions and ensure optimal engine performance. When this sensor fails, it can cause a range of issues, from reduced power to increased emissions. Understanding how to diagnose problems with the exhaust back pressure sensor can help you address these issues promptly and keep your vehicle running smoothly.
-
Check Engine Light
-
One of the first signs of an issue with the exhaust back pressure sensor is the activation of the check engine light. Use an OBD-II scanner to read the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Codes related to exhaust pressure can help pinpoint the problem.
-
-
Poor Engine Performance
-
A malfunctioning exhaust back pressure sensor can lead to poor engine performance, including reduced power, sluggish acceleration, and rough idling. These symptoms occur because the ECU is not receiving accurate pressure data.
-
-
Increased Emissions
-
If the exhaust back pressure sensor is not functioning correctly, it can cause the engine to run inefficiently, leading to higher emissions. You might notice a failed emissions test or visible smoke from the exhaust.
-
-
Fuel Efficiency Drop
-
An inaccurate exhaust back pressure sensor can cause improper air-fuel mixture, leading to increased fuel consumption. If you notice a sudden drop in fuel economy, it could be related to this sensor.
-
-
Unusual Noises
-
Listen for unusual noises coming from the exhaust system. A faulty sensor can cause the exhaust system to operate improperly, leading to strange sounds such as hissing or popping.
-
-
Visual Inspection
-
Perform a visual inspection of the exhaust back pressure sensor and its connections. Look for signs of damage, corrosion, or loose wiring that could affect the sensor's performance.
-
-
Test Sensor Voltage
-
Use a multimeter to test the sensor's voltage output. Refer to your vehicle’s service manual for the correct voltage range. Inconsistent or incorrect readings can indicate a failing sensor.
-
-
Inspect Exhaust System
-
Check the entire exhaust system for blockages, leaks, or damage. Issues within the exhaust system can affect the pressure readings and the sensor's performance.
-
In conclusion, diagnosing issues with an exhaust back pressure sensor involves checking for symptoms such as the check engine light, poor engine performance, increased emissions, fuel efficiency drop, unusual noises, and conducting a visual inspection and voltage test. Addressing these problems early can help maintain your vehicle's performance and efficiency while preventing more severe engine damage. If you suspect an issue with your exhaust back pressure sensor, consult a professional mechanic for a thorough inspection and accurate diagnosis. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can keep your exhaust system and engine running smoothly.
