As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The International Navistar MaxxForce 13 and 11 engines, produced between 2011 and 2014, rely on efficient coolant flow for optimal operation. The Coolant Flow Control Valve, OEM 3018708C91, plays a crucial role in this process.

Functions of the Coolant Flow Control Valve:

This valve is designed to regulate the flow of coolant within the engine. By controlling the coolant flow, it ensures that the engine operates at the right temperature, preventing overheating and potential engine damage.

Key Functions:

  • Temperature Regulation
    • Maintains optimal engine temperature by controlling the flow of coolant.
  • Overheat Prevention
    • Reduces the risk of overheating by ensuring proper coolant circulation.
  • Engine Efficiency
    • Helps the engine run smoothly by maintaining a consistent temperature.

The valve works by opening and closing based on the engine's temperature needs, ensuring that coolant is directed where it is most needed. This regulation is vital for maintaining engine health and longevity.

Regular maintenance of the Coolant Flow Control Valve is essential to keep the engine in good working condition. If you experience issues with engine temperature regulation, it may be time to inspect and potentially replace this valve.

The coolant flow control valve is a crucial component in regulating the flow of coolant to various parts of the engine. Ensuring its proper function is essential for maintaining your vehicle's engine temperature and overall health. But how often should this part be replaced?

Frequency of Replacement

The replacement frequency of a coolant flow control valve can vary based on several factors, including the make and model of your vehicle, driving conditions, and maintenance habits. However, a general guideline suggests inspecting the valve every 50,000 miles or during regular coolant system check-ups.

Signs of a Failing Coolant Flow Control Valve

Here are some indicators that your coolant flow control valve may need replacement:

  • Erratic Temperature Fluctuations
    • If the engine temperature rises and falls unpredictably, it might indicate a problem with the valve.
  • Coolant Leaks
    • Visible leaks near the valve suggest it’s not functioning correctly.
  • Poor Heater
    • A malfunctioning valve can result in inadequate heating within the cabin.

Maintenance Tips

To extend the lifespan of your coolant flow control valve:

  • Regular Inspections
    • Check the valve and associated components during routine maintenance.
  • Use Quality Coolant
    • High-quality coolant can prevent corrosion and buildup that might damage the valve.
  • Address Issues Promptly
    • At the first sign of trouble, consult a professional to avoid further damage.

Regular inspection and timely replacement of the coolant flow control valve are essential for the smooth operation of your vehicle’s engine. Keeping an eye on the signs of wear and following maintenance tips can help ensure your vehicle remains in top condition. For high-quality replacement parts, visit Tamerx Diesel Products and ensure your vehicle runs efficiently.

Maintaining clean coolant, performing regular flushes, and inspecting the cooling system prevent premature valve failure.

Seal failure can cause internal bypassing or external leaks, reducing coolant pressure and affecting cooling performance.

Incorrect coolant can lead to scaling, corrosion, and internal blockages that impair the valve’s function.

Ignoring valve failure can lead to engine overheating, EGR system failure, coolant loss, and expensive engine damage.
