Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

Replacing a faulty cam position sensor with the OEM 2972277 ensures that your Cummins engine maintains precise timing for fuel injection, improving overall performance and preventing potential engine issues. A properly functioning sensor is essential for avoiding costly repairs and keeping your engine running smoothly.

For Cummins engine owners from 2006 to 2018, the OEM 2972277 cam position sensor is an important component that ensures reliable engine timing, better fuel efficiency, and long-term engine health. Keep your engine performing at its best with this essential replacement part.

The cam position sensor is crucial for the precise timing of engine operations, including the ignition and fuel injection processes. When this sensor begins to fail, it can significantly affect engine performance and overall vehicle functionality. Recognizing the symptoms of a failing cam position sensor early can help you avoid more serious engine issues and costly repairs. In this blog, we’ll explore the common signs that your cam position sensor might be failing.

  • Engine Misfires

    • A failing cam position sensor can cause engine misfires due to incorrect timing of the ignition and fuel injection processes. You may notice that the engine stutters or hesitates, particularly during acceleration.

  • Difficulty Starting the Engine

    • If your vehicle struggles to start or requires multiple attempts to turn over, it could be a sign of a malfunctioning cam position sensor. The sensor’s failure can disrupt the timing needed for proper engine start-up.

  • Rough Idling

    • A common symptom of a failing cam position sensor is rough idling. The engine may idle unevenly or inconsistently, indicating that the sensor is not providing accurate timing information.

  • Poor Acceleration

    •  If you experience a lack of power or sluggish acceleration, it might be due to a failing cam position sensor. Inaccurate timing can affect the engine’s performance, leading to reduced power output.

  • Check Engine Light

    • The check engine light on your dashboard may illuminate if there is a problem with the cam position sensor. This warning light can indicate various engine issues, including sensor malfunctions.

  • Decreased Fuel Efficiency

    •  A malfunctioning cam position sensor can lead to improper fuel timing, resulting in decreased fuel efficiency. If you notice that you are refueling more frequently, it may be related to sensor issues.

  • Engine Stalling

    • Engine stalling, especially when idling or during low-speed driving, can be a symptom of a failing cam position sensor. The sensor’s failure can cause the engine to lose power and shut off unexpectedly.

Identifying the symptoms of a failing cam position sensor is essential for maintaining optimal engine performance and preventing more serious issues. Symptoms like engine misfires, difficulty starting, and rough idling should be addressed promptly to avoid further damage and ensure your vehicle remains in top condition. Regular maintenance and timely repairs will help keep your cam position sensor—and your engine—running smoothly.
