As is the case for the majority of the diesel products sold on Tamerx Diesel Products, your part's warranty is active as soon as you install it. In some other cases, warranty activation is contingent upon you sending us your core (i.e., your old part). Tamerx Diesel Products will provide you a return shipping label for parts that have a warranty with a core return condition. When we have received your core return, the part's warranty coverage begins. We reserve the right to void the product warranty if your core is not received within the allotted time, or if it isn't received at all. If the warranty for the diesel part you are purchasing has a core return requirement, it will be clearly noted on the product detail page/item listing.

What is a Core Charge?

A core charge (also called "core deposit") is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda and is a standard requirement in the auto parts industry. For example, in many states, to promote recycling, you pay a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a core charge, or core price, that works in essentially the same way as a soda can deposit.

30 Day Core Charge Hold

You authorize Tamerx Diesel Products, to hold your credit card for the specified core charge amount and that you agree to return your core with 30 days of receiving the purchased part. When we have received your core return, the hold is released and the core charge payment is canceled.

The thermostat is a critical component of your vehicle’s cooling system, regulating the engine's temperature to ensure optimal performance and prevent overheating. When the thermostat fails, it can lead to various engine problems. Understanding the risks of driving with a bad thermostat is crucial for maintaining your vehicle's health and performance.

Driving with a bad thermostat can lead to significant engine issues, from overheating to decreased fuel efficiency. Recognizing the signs of a failing thermostat and understanding the potential consequences of continuing to drive with this issue can help you make informed decisions about your vehicle’s maintenance. Here’s what you need to know about driving with a bad thermostat.

  • Overheating

    •  One of the most immediate risks of a bad thermostat is engine overheating. If the thermostat is stuck closed, it prevents coolant from flowing through the engine, causing it to overheat quickly.

  • Engine Damage

    • Prolonged overheating can cause severe engine damage, including warped cylinder heads, blown head gaskets, and cracked engine blocks. This can lead to costly repairs or even engine replacement.

  • Poor Fuel Efficiency

    • A thermostat stuck open can cause the engine to run cooler than intended, leading to poor fuel combustion. This results in decreased fuel efficiency and increased fuel consumption.

  • Inconsistent Temperature Readings

    • A malfunctioning thermostat can cause fluctuating temperature readings on your dashboard gauge. This inconsistency can make it difficult to monitor and maintain the engine’s temperature.

  • Reduced Heater Performance

    • In colder weather, a thermostat stuck open can prevent the engine from reaching its optimal operating temperature, leading to inadequate cabin heating.

  • Check Engine Light

    • A failing thermostat can trigger the check engine light, indicating a problem with the engine’s temperature regulation. Ignoring this warning can lead to further complications.

  • Increased Emissions

    • An engine running at incorrect temperatures can produce higher emissions, contributing to environmental pollution and potentially causing your vehicle to fail emissions tests.

In conclusion, driving with a bad thermostat is not advisable due to the risks of engine overheating, potential engine damage, poor fuel efficiency, inconsistent temperature readings, reduced heater performance, check engine light activation, and increased emissions. Addressing thermostat issues promptly can prevent severe damage and costly repairs, ensuring your vehicle remains reliable and efficient. If you suspect your thermostat is failing, consult a professional mechanic for a thorough inspection and necessary replacement. Regular maintenance and timely attention to your vehicle’s cooling system are essential for maintaining optimal performance and longevity.
